Japan: The Cookbook Demo and Signing

Nancy, a James Beard Award-nominated author, is a native Californian and has lived in Japan since 1988, where she is active in the artisanal food movement and is a prominent advocate for preserving Japan’s disappearing food traditions. Nancy will be preparing recipes from her gorgeous and instructive new book, Japan: The Cookbook with fresh, local ingredients from  the Santa Monica Farmers Market.

Let the Slow Food Los Angeles Preservers, a team of certified instructors, introduce you to the time-tested techniques that will help you fill your pantry.

This exciting class will be held in the professional kitchen-classrooms at the newly opened Institute of Culinary Education in Pasadena.

ONLY $25, proceeds benefit the SFLA Preservers and their efforts to share the craft of home food preservation with the Los Angeles community.

Professional cheesemaker, Michael Salzman, currently hand makes mozzarella, scamorza, and ricotta and spearheads project management at Sierra Cheese Manufacturing Company in Compton. Join us as Michael introduces us to the great craft of kefir making. This is a free event but pre-registration is required.
